Growing up in Minnesota, my father's gas business gave me valuable automotive understanding. Later, I started working with a train crew, where I was responsible for lining up rails on ties. Finally, two years on Great Lakes ore boats infused me with an appreciation for nature's splendor. These encounters inspired me to write stories about the tenacious spirit of regular people.
